News: IWC – Watches And Wonders 2021

Watches and Wonders is a big event—there is no denying that. Brand after brand competing for your attention, how are you meant to keep up with it all? Well, have no fear, Watchfinder is here! In this article, we break down the newest releases from IWC.

For this year’s Watches and Wonders, IWC has updated a few of its pilot’s watches…

Big Pilot’s Watch 43mm

There isn’t a pilot’s watch more iconic than the IWC Big Pilot. However, that isn’t to say that fans don’t have their gripes with the watch. Most think it is too big—at 46mm—and that the crown could be redesigned so that it doesn’t give you a small reminder of its existence every time you move your hand.

IWC has addressed these criticisms with the new 2021 Big Pilot’s Watch. The watch is now a smaller, more wearable 43mm, has a redesigned crown that won’t touch the skin, and for good measure, IWC has even removed extras from the dial—like the power reserve indicator—to increase legibility.

Pilot's Chronograph 41

Continuing the trend, the Pilot's Chronograph has also shed a few mm. Now coming in at 41mm—to the delight of many—the Pilot's Chronograph is also now 100m water-resistant, more accurate—thanks to a shiny new column-wheel caliber movement—and features a beefed-up case that ensures that those with a need for speed won’t lose their watch’s crystal when experiencing rapid pressure loss.

Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar

The Big Pilot's Perpetual Calendar, unfortunately, hasn’t been on a diet this year like the new Big Pilot and Pilot's Chronograph has. It is still 46mm. Big, I know—but what you have to remember is that where the Big Pilot’s Watch is time-only, this has a 386-part perpetual calendar beating away inside of it. Those that don’t mind the size are now treated to an open case back, allowing the user to see the 7-day power reserved, 28,800 vph perpetual calendar movement in action.

So, there you have it, the IWC Big—and smaller—Pilot’s Watches of Watches and Wonders 2021. Keep an eye on this space for more exciting watch news!
